I get TRAP 3's regularly from JFS-1.09.06 as well as other traps. At that I get more crashes in JFS then anywhere else though more often are system freezes. Some of the trps make no sense, such as when ejecting a FAT[32] USB stick. These can happen on a freshly booted system.
Odd. I haven't seen a trap in JFS for a few years now. Traps that "make no sense" are more likely to be caused by flaky hardware, than by software that runs very well for other people (there can be exceptions, of course). I assume that you have done the usual cleanup, check all of the fans, re-seat all of the connectors, and make sure that your power source is okay (including the ground).
FWIW, my old P4 system, with a 2 TB drive on a SATA adapter runs for weeks (before I find a reason to reboot it). In fact, since I put it together (about a year ago), it has never crashed for any reason (I hope it is not listening

). It does run a lot of software, but only Weasel, SAMBA and RSYNC are used, most of the time. I use it like a NAS box, for my backups (windows, and eCS), but it is set up so I can use it in case my main system is stolen, or dies a horrible death. It lives under my basement stairs.
